In SAMVARON Öberg returns to the concept of passing on to create a performative situation that like a choreographic chain letter wanders between humans and places. Inspired by sewing circles as a place for social encounters, SAMVARON both figuratively and literally becomes a weave of people, memories and places, creating a moment of fellowship and physical presence in a time that for so long has been marked by loneliness and distance. A performative situation that both remembers those who has visit the performance before, as well as being affected by those who visit it later.
SAMVARON appears both as an installation and a performance. The installation can be attended through different levels of engagement; sitting / listening / weaving / or from the outside observing the situation as a moving sculpture. The performance is 20 minutes long and repeatedly performed up to 3 hours without break. To each performance only one audience member is invited to weave, talk and dance.
The voices and the woven material so far comes from people visiting SAMVARON in Stråtjära, Stockholm, Gävle, Skog, Söderhamn, Bollnäs, Uppsala, Delsbo, Falun, Rättvik, Sandviken, Leksand, Gislaved and Sunne.
Premiere December 11-12 2021, Gävle Theatre, Sweden trough Riksteatern/RoomX and has also been performed at FLOCK festival at Magasinet Falun, IASPIS studio Stockholm, Site Sweden Stockholm, Tingshuset Delsbo, Tierps Konsthall, Länsmuseet Gävle and Sandvikens Kulturcentrum amongst other places.
